46 and Knocked Up!

Thanks you all for the lovely birthday wishes. I’ve been a terrible blogger and commenter lately. The last couple of weeks at work have been crazy, and when not at work, I’ve crashed.

It was a much better birthday than last year, when I was dealing with a cancelled IVF cycle. I had a nice birthday dinner with the ex-boyfriend on Friday (had a yummy virgin, raspberry mojito with dinner), and then slept away most of the weekend. Except for Sunday night. OB appt on Monday, so didn’t sleep well Sunday night. Hopefully, this will get better once I start really feeling my little notion move. I keep thinking I feel something, but it’s not often, and so light, that I think it might be my imagination.

OB appt was fine. No ultrasound, so I’ll have to wait 4 more weeks to find out whether I’ve got a boy or girl on the way. I got all teary, as usual, when I heard the heartbeat. It’s slowly sinking in that I’m going to be a mom!

The OB agrees that I need to get real relief for my plantar fasciitis. She agrees with me that it’s not good that I can barely walk around. The injections I had at my last appt with the orthopedic surgeon did not help at all. If anything, the pain is worse. And those shots were BRUTAL! I gave her his contact info and just called his office with her info, and said I needed them to talk before my appt with him on Thursday. She (the OB) said that she will ask what he would do for me if I weren’t pregnant, and she will let him know if it’s safe. Hoping for a good game plan on Thursday, as this foot pain is making me miserable. Even the middle of the night trips to pee are agony on my feet.

So, there’s my update. Nothing terrible exciting right now, but that’s a good thing.

Oh! I have a bunch of leftover meds to donate to anyone who can use them. I will make a complete list and post it soon, but I have some unopened PIO, aygestin, some estrace, vaginal progesterone, prometrium, and lovenox. Email me if you want any.

Have you tried a night brace for the plantar fasciitis? It holds your foot in a flexed position (toes pulled towards the knee), and really helps to heal the inflammation. It doesn't work instantly though. And you're not supposed to walk on it, so the getting up to pee business will be dicey (you can hobble on your heel without taking the brace off).

So nice of you to donate meds. I swear that part of the reason my third IVF was successful was because of the magic that came with donated meds.

I hope you get relief soon. That does sound really painful!!! I am glad other than that things are going well. You ARE going to be a mom and you ARE going to be GREAT at it!

Hope you get some relief from the plantar fasciitis soon...that has got to be miserable. And, does what you are feeling feel sort of like bubbles popping? If so, that is the baby.

Foot pain is the suck. I have had chronic foot pain of varied types for years, but never plantar fasciitis, thank maude. So you have my most sincerest sympathies. And getting up to go to the bathroom is also the suck. I do it all the time and don't even have the excuse of pregnancy. So, you have my sympathy on a number of fronts :)

That's the pits; pain w/out relief. I busted my foot at 5 weeks pregnant. So. Not. Cool.

Happy belated birthday!!!! Glad you had a good OB appt. and I hope the ortho. can help you with your foot pain. That sounds awful! I can't wait to find out what you're having!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your insurance will cover it, I recommend orthotics. They help WAY more then the injections. I did injections and they HURT! I got mine for free because I worked for a foot surgeon, but I would've paid whatever I needed to for them. That's how AMAZING they are!
Feel better, hon!

So thrilled for you Dora - and you are truly my inspiration. I will be 44 in August and hopefully it will be as happy for me as you are now (did that make sense? If not I will use the pupo card!)

Thanks for your donated meds offer! I love when people do that - I acutally need to order more PIO but as we CAN afford it I don't want to take yours. Hopefully it will find a good home. HOPEFULLY I'll be donating my unused meds soon too!

Good luck with foot relief!

Ouch for the pain....I hope there is some breakthrough and the pain gets done away with for good. And all the very best for the ultrasound! Take Care.

I've been qually bad keeping up with everyone. Sorry to hear you're still in pain but a very happy belated b-day. Glad it was lovely.

And those phantom movements you think you feel? Trust your instincts. My earliest ones were like tiny tickles.

Wiat till they're moving around so much it's like they're trying to escape through your skin. Watching my belly bounce while I sit still on the couch is becoming a pastime.
